“One interested client started looking at the villa purely because of the car. He could buy 10 Maseratis for that price if he wished, so it’s clearly an attractive selling point,” says Charles Gubbins of Chestertons International, who is marketing one of the seven-bed villas for €4.495m through his.
Meanwhile, the vendor of a six-storey, Grade II listed townhouse in London’s Connaught Square has decided that Porsche is a better fit for his potential buyer. The house has recently undergone a multi-million pound renovation and is now discreetly on sale for £10.25m through Kay&Co.
Included in the price is a Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid, which cost £100,000 when bought 15 months ago and can be charged in the property’s garage. “The client wants to showcase that the development is a complete package, offering both luxury living and a convenient lifestyle. The Porsche is a hybrid and highly economical, making it ideal for London driving,” comments Kay&Co’s managing director, Martin Bikhit.

With buyers who love their fancy cars comes the need for ample and designer garages, including a unique offering in Barcelona. At Francesc Macia 10, whose show flat is on sale for €10m and shell and core apartments from €8m through Knight Frank, each apartment comes with six underground spaces – in a city where having even one is practically unheard of.
“International buyers with collections of classic or performance cars have relished the opportunity to group them together in a secure and luxurious surrounding and to really enjoy getting to use their vehicles,” says José Caireta, co-founder of the developers Squircle Capital. “Other buyers have teenage children who will soon be taking their driving tests, so they will need four spaces, plus extra for guests. Nobody has told us that it’s excessive.”
When you can park Porsches in the sky, excessive isn’t even on the radar.
